Southside With You

When I learnt there was a movie on Michelle and Barack Obama that I had not seen, I was freaking out and after a short but not effortless hunt, I finally got to see the movie. At the end I was like – this cannot possibly be it, right? Just so I’m clear guys, I did not like the movie! There’s no twist to it, it was just a ‘no’ for me. As a matter of fact, I would call it a regrettable use of my time.

This is what I got from the movie – Mr. Obama is a player! I guess he’s been giving “speeches” for way longer than we thought and Michele Obama was just a tough audience. I don’t know what Mr. Obama was thinking but where I’m from you don’t blow fumes of burning tobacco, a major cause of cancer, at a lady and expect to win her over, but maybe that’s just me considering that it worked at the end.

Was I wrong to have imagined the movie to be one filled with drama, suspense and motivation? Barack Obama is only the first black president of the United States who was eligible enough to have completed two full tenors and they decide to throw romance on my face? Where is the glory, the story, the victory?

I really don’t want to get started with the actors, actually I think I will – if you are going to act like you were not handed a script then don’t! It gets really confusing and infuriating when actors fail to “act” and this is specifically to the Michele character. And who in god’s name handled the casting for this movie, believe me, you were a mile away from perfect. For what it’s worth, I think the Obama character did well but for a movie of this kind, I would prefer seeing a familiar face.
