I am Bolt
There is no telling the number of athletes around the world, stretching across different fields that may have achieved admirable and exceedingly satisfactory results in their respective carriers. However, Usain Bolt's accomplishments are arguably the most phenomenal. I mean, what!!!
He is a three-time Olympic Champion, a legend and a bolt of lightning from the smoking hot streets of Jamaica. Starting his career early, he had sufficient time to spread his wings or in this case, his legs. He had a fantastic run, literally, and having crossed his last finish line, the exit could not be more glorious.
Bolt, before his “magnificence”, wasn’t always the fastest man alive. He is a product of hard work, talent, drive and a coach. Believe what you want but solely raw talent can get you as far as a stone throw from where you’re standing or reading and that depends on how good you throw or how bad you read. It is only inconceivable to imagine the brilliance the world would have been denied of if those responsible for Usain Bolt’s emergence were ignorant enough to not take the risk of believing;
His coach, his manager, his sponsors, his family, and his friends. All these people together contributed in delivering Usain Bolt to the glory he is now relishing and they should be celebrated for it. This is my philosophy: we are only teachers to those that learn from us and students to those we don’t teach. We might hate the truth and truly it kind of sucks to think about it, but the fact is that no matter what you do, or who you are, somebody made you.
I think what is most remarkable about his carrier is how folks from diverse nationalities responded to him so much that more than half the crowd in a stadium where fixated on seeing him win on every occasion and even those that desired, so bad, to see their countries triumph wouldn’t take loosing too hard if only they lost to bolt. The joy of seeing him fly with those big long strides (as the commentators would say) transcends the spirit of international sports rivalry.
It is vital that I state at this point that after watching this epic documentary on the life of the most remarkable sprinter to have ever ran a race track, and whose record would probably stay unbeaten for decades, something happened, something equally remarkable – I got in touch with my inner Jamaican, and I’m loving the accent, a lot! A lot more than I like bolts singing.
My best part in the movie was when Bolt was handed a rubies cube to solve and after a very poor trial he ended up breaking it and just when he thought it was all over, he was handed another one to solve – hilarious!In one word - originality! Now that’s something he stands for. It shows in everything he does and in the way he responds to people. There has never been a more accurate definition for “the people’s champion” as long as this sport is concerned. Basically, Bolt gets it, he knows how to keep it real and that is no ordinary task for a man of his caliber.
Now, there’s only one question, the one question we’re all thinking about - will Bolt get this post? Sorry, the real question is - who is the next “fastest man the world has ever seen” and how long will it take for him to get here if at all he gets here? And he had bloody well not be a Jamaican or there will be a rising and I know we are definitely not going to be roomies. Well either that or - what would be the result of Usain Bolt's coaching career if he chose to give it a try? Now, that should be a movie. See ya!!!
