Little Boy
I don’t know if I believe in miracles but I know I don’t believe this movie and this is coming from a guy that has seen it four times. I began watching this movie (God bless the friend that recommended it) with two full cones of pop-corn, a bottle of Coca-Cola, and a locally made pie I got from a lady down my street – let’s just say I like to do it big – and when I finished I was left with two full cones of pop-corn, a bottle of Coca-Cola, a locally made pie I got from a lady down my street, and two big eye balls drowned in tears. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I cried and it wouldn’t be the first nor the last. I was literally on the edge of my sit the whole time, it was that good.
“Little Boy” is an emotional movie that hints on a lot of things – hate, history, war, love, spirituality, and faith. Faith, people, faith moves mountains and a short, 8 year old boy gave it a more literal touch. One statement made in the movie that still lingers on is “ignore the world” and I believe this is more of a secret than a mare statement. Only it is a secret to observe and not one to keep locked up in a wooden box on a rusty, forgotten shelf that reads dust to dust and ashes to ashes.
When you take a closer look you’ll find that the world is just one big ball of nothing like a virgin canvas or a mirror or an empty book or the beginning words of a story. Understand that reality could be a lie if you wish long and hard enough and that mindset, that mindset is what I call faith.
Don’t ask me if I believe in miracles because I don’t! I believe in faith. In the most heartbreakingly trying times nothing is more important than holding on to your “mustard seed” because “Nothing was more powerful than the will – the will to face ones fear and to act”.
For a guy as tall as I am, I wouldn’t say I view the world from the same angle as Little Boy (Pepper) but I can say that for a guy as short as he was, aiming for greater heights in all areas seizes to be an alternative but instead, a brilliant excuse to escape reality. . Pepper (little boy), the main character of the movie, Is a relic of a hallowed generation, the kind that only saw hope in the possibility that there lies power in something or someone far greater and bigger than they themselves. so much that they trusted a feeling even when lives hanged on a thread. I am talking of the likes of Moses, Abraham, Mohammed, Mandela, Malcom X, Martin Luther King etc. these men moved mountains.
The bravest of us are those that dare to believe. It doesn’t matter what you choose to believe in, it only matters that you do. So do you believe you can do that? Partner! I urge you to watch this movie, if you’ve not, and experience the beauty of faith with literature. Do comment, See ya!!
